Professional Technical applicants who do not meet all the requirements for regular admission may be admitted to the college on a conditional admission status. All conditionally admitted professional-technical students are required to meet with the Professional Technical Counselor or designated person to develop, implement and execute an individualized student learning plan until such time as they are upgraded to a regular admission status. Regular admission status includes the following: completing any required remediation; completing 12 college hours numbered 100 or above; and, attaining a 2.0 grade point average.

While admission to McCall College is required, it does not guarantee entrance into a Professional Technical program. All Professional Technical applicants must complete the Professional Technical Education Center’s admission intake process before being fully admitted to a technical program.
Students who are admitted to professional technical programs must go through admission re-evaluation if they decide to switch to an academic program. Contact the Office of Admission for more details.
A student seeking hours for prior learning experiences must prepare a portfolio to be evaluated by members of the faculty through the department(s) appropriate for the hours being requested. Any student interested in prior learning assessment should discuss the possibility with the Academic Dean. This preliminary discussion helps determine whether the student's experience warrants a formal assessment by the faculty. If the preliminary contact is encouraging, the student must submit a petition to prepare the portfolio and submit to the Academic Dean. An assessment fee of $50 per course hour sought will be payable upon submission of the petition. In compiling the portfolio, the student must identify the learning, express it in terms of college level curriculum or competencies, relate it to his or her overall educational and career objectives and compile the evidence to demonstrate the competence. Ideally, completing this process allows a student to avoid the duplication of learning, to build on the learning previously acquired, and shorten the time it takes to earn a certificate. Guidelines for portfolio preparation may be obtained from the Academic Dean.
A prior-learning evaluation may result in awarding of "no hours." A clear explanation is provided in such cases where hours are denied. If hours are awarded for prior learning, the Registrar will record the hours and send notification to the student. Hours earned through an assessment of prior learning cannot be duplicated through any other mechanism for earning hours. Prior learning hours are not transferable. A maximum of 12 hours may be earned through the Credit for Prior Learning Experiences process.
Course-level McCall College scholarships are available. Apply to the Academic Dean.
